The Circus has a new home: Coney Island!
June 18 - September 7
The Greatest Show on Earth hits the boardwalk this summer for the very first time in its 139-year history! Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey presents THE CONEY ISLAND BOOM A RING, an action-packed seaside circus spectacular where the energy bursts out of the ring! The new blue-and-yellow air-conditioned tent is home to beautiful white tigers, majestic Asian elephants, hilarious clowns and thrilling acrobats from around the world. The action bounces from one high-energy act to the next, featuring a Globe of Steel in which whizzing motorcyclists orbit at speeds of 65 miles an hour, a daring crossbow demonstration that takes archery to new extremes, and a gravity-defying performance on the whirling Wheel of Steel.
The Coney Island Boom A Ring is located at West 21st Street and the Boardwalk.

The Skyscraper Museum

Current Exhibit: China Prophecy
The three-exhibition series, entitled FUTURE CITY: 20 | 21 juxtaposes early 20th-century American visions of futuristic skyscraper cities with an exploration of Chinese cities today, pursuing the parallel conditions of rapid modernization and urbanization. The first exhibition of the cycle, "New York Modern" showcased New York's emergence in the 1920s as the preeminent skyscraper city, and the third, “China Prophecy,” explores the 21st-century skyscraper city of Shanghai.
The exhibit provides a close look at Shanghai, as a model for 21st century urbanism. Using architectural photography of recent towers, architectural drawings of existing and proposed towers and computer animations, documenting both the recent high-rise developments and future plans for the next generation of Shanghai’s development, this installation will lead to an inquiry into the economics, laws, and culture shaping the present-day Chinese metropolises.
The Skyscraper Museum is located in lower Manhattan's Battery Park City at 39 Battery Place. Museum hours are 12-6pm, Wednesday-Sunday. General admission is $5, $2.50 for students and seniors.
